About Problems

I believe there are problems because there are solutions. As darkness can not exist without light, similarly every problem has a solution. It is our job to find solutions for those problems.

But there is a trick in here and that is to know that there are problems on hand. I see so many people all around me who are blissfully unaware of the problems on hand may be because they are so dumb or may be they are so stubborn that they refuse to accept the existence of problems.

I kind of like problems since they give us the opportunity to learn and to do things right in the future. Mankind has evolved through the ages to be able to "Blog" now because it had to face problems and it rose to the occasion to find a solution to all of its problems.

Now a days I have to put up with one of those guys who does not accept the problems. It frusrates me when a person does not want to learn to do things the way they meant to be done. I on my part however am not going to give it up.

The Long and Short of It

The other day a female (SP) posted a scrap on my Orkut account and said she wanted to speak about something. I did no know her so I wrote back asking what she wanted to talk and following is the conversation happened till now.

SP:
honestly i don't know what did i write
and therefore don't know what you talkin about in the scrap..
so what do you work as in EnY.
And how on earth can you speak oriya????

were you high that day when you wrote the scarp.

well i too don't know what you were talkin about, coz you did not write about anything you wanna talk about but i am sure you did try to talk about something, but strangely wanted my permission talk about whatever you wanted to talk about. that is why i initiated talking about it and wanted to know what you want to talk about. well we are not doing much talking about anything except what we were trying to talk.

i would not talk about my ey experience in present continuous but in past perfect. i was a intern there - well! which is actually past continuous.

btw there is a place on the 3rd rock from the sun, it is called orissa, and ppl who are born there do tend to learn the mystic language of the land, they call it oriya. may be it has to do something with the name of the place or may be vice versa.

About Accidents

Today we were transporting some household goods from my sister’s place to mine in an auto. Sister was following the auto and I was ahead of it showing the direction. The autowala (auto driver in Hindi) had an accident with a new Toyota Corolla. Mob surrounded the place and started blaming the autowala for the accident. My sister, who was following the auto said, it was the fault of the Corolla driver instead -who was trying to overtake the auto from right-hand side while there was hardly any space to do that maneuver. But car driver did not listen to us and was asking the auto driver to pay for the damages. It was clear that the less pricey the vehicle the more at fault of the driver for the accident.

While the argument persisted and I was speaking to the owner of the car over the phone explaining him the cause of the accident and that his driver was boozed up; one person from the mob gave somewhat absurd reason why the accident could have not been caused by the auto driver and asked us to leave the place. Happily we did. I also learnt that Mob rules!

This is the mail we received today in our office from the network administrator when the mail server was down:

One of our email servers went on strike some time yesterday and decided to hold all new incoming emails as its hostages. It didn’t want to let them go until we complied with its demands. We finally came to an agreement some 30 minutes ago and the server decided to start releasing the hostages. No email were lost or harmed during this time and you should be able to send and receive new mail without any problems.

About Survival and Growth

The main two reasons why there is a living being in who calls it self human being is that of survival and growth. How developed may the species become; in my opinion the reason for survival of every living being is survival an growth.

About being in Industry

Though not really apparent; but CAs once in to Industry are so cut off from the basic knowledge. Everyone knows that the Balance Sheet format in the Schedule VI to the Companies Act 1956 has been given in Horizontal format but companies follow the Vertical Format. It once happened in on of my audit assignments. My Senior and our team was trying to explain to the Sr Manager Finance & Accounts who had over 10 years experience - that the company need to disclose some facts based on the Schedule VI of Companies Act 1956. When we told him that he very gravely remarked we follow the Vertical Format and not the Horizontal Format, so why do we need to disclose the fact. Initially we thought he was joking, and laughed but when we saw him that he still very serious about his remark then we realized that he was not joking and was very much serious.

Blogging gives one a great chance to express and share your ideas, views and whatever you want to. You post in the Blog and expect that someone other than thyself read your posts and appreciate. But I realized that it is a good place to get ridiculed for reasons you are unaware of as well. Long time ago I had received couple of jokes on Excel. I had loved them due to my love of Excel, and therefore posted them on to my blog to share.

But yesterday found out that they were copied from www.J-walk.com. How? well I saw that the traffic to my Wordpress.com site was a phenomenal 105 (that site averages 12 visitors every day).
Bad bad me! or was I?

About eating Chinese in a Veg Fast Food Shop

I had a Sweet Corn Soup in a place called HotChips in Chennai. Then realized that you should never have any soup items in a South Indian Veg Fast food Shop. They made a mess of it and I could hardly have it.

About Sambar Vada

Today I had Sambar Vada(i) for lunch. At the restaurant I asked for Sambar Vada(i) as usual, at that the teller asked me whether I want Sambar Vada or Vada Sambar.

What the difference?

Sambar Vada- where the vada’s are pre-marinated in the Samabar for a long time. Generally those vada’s don’t have onions in them and the size is comparatively smaller, just like button Idli.

Vada Sambar- the person who will serve you, will put vada in a serving bowl and pour sambar in it.

About Prepaid Taxies at the airport

Always hire a prepaid taxi before you come out the Airport. Especially in cases where you are in a new town, there if you go out and try to take a taxi, you are more prone to being cheated. More so when the airport is out of the town like in Chennai. What I did was to come out of the airport and then took a prepaid taxi, and the driver took 30 more bucks when we reached to the destination.

Never bother to take a prepaid taxi in you own town. Recently I went to Hyderabad. I knew that if I can walk just half a kilometer I would find a auto, but I took a so called prepaid autos out side the airport and paid twice as much. And again as in Chennai, the auto driver took another 20 bucks over the bargained amount.

Always carry change with you, so that you don’t have to pay extra amounts.

Previously when some one used to say “Login to root” I used to search for “Login to Root” Button in the the current non-root login. Just recently i realized that it means “Login with Root as your Login ID” like Administrator in Windows. I think that was the problem I was not able to configure my Wireless in Ubuntu, previously and jumped to Open Suse 10.2

What ever I do I do it wrong first time. Well almost 80% of the time it is true. This is what I realized some years back. I also realized that I will be doing, all the mistakes; every time a unique one. Since I am a quick learner I don’t repeat the same mistake, but find out new ways of doing mistakes.

I had last year about the same time had gone to Sambalpur. I had gone there after many years. The whole town seemed very small. I thought that the town has shrunk. But then realized that, I have fairly grown.
